List of Activities

WE WILL UPDATE THIS PAGE IN SEPTEMBER WITH NEW ACTIVITIES. FOR REFERENCE, HERE'S THE ACTIVITIES THAT HAPPENED IN APRIL.

What to do at Streets Alive!  ?  Walk, bike, roll, dance, play, and hang out with neighbors and friends.   Enjoy all the new found space when streets are closed to cars and open to people.   Spontaneous and unscheduled activity is encouraged, from lemonade stands to four square games.  Simply claim a space and remember to leave at least half the street for people to easily walk, bike or roll past. As you enjoy yourselves, please also remember that Streets Alive! is a family and community friendly event put together by a small team of dedicated active transportation professionals.  We discourage the production of waste (no trash, thanks; if you carry it in, carry it out), uncomfortable levels of sound and danger, and extra work; and we encourage the production of smiles and kindnesses along the way.  Everyone has to clear the streets by 5pm.  Thank you!

Host an Activity

Anyone can host an activity:

Streets Alive! is at its simplest a day where the streets are closed to cars and open to people.  Anyone can join in and make some fun.  Simply chalk a space and leave at least half the street open for people to walk, bike, and roll by.  The possibilities are almost endless:  hula hooping, jump rope, hopscotch, street hockey, frisbee, basketball… Or practice your unicycling, play a little acoustic music, run a lemonade stand, build a fort…

Big Groups, Non-Profit Organizations, Businesses: Register here.

If you are a bigger group or a formal organization or business, (and anyone who wants their activity formally listed) please contact us about your activity idea.  We have some guidelines to follow, and want to put you on the map. We welcome fun activities that connect with our themes of active transportation (walking, rolling, biking, etc.), inclusive community-building, health and wellness, empowered neighborhoods, and having fun outside with neighbors. Thanks for your interest!
